More pics of FO's in use :)

I nabbed these from Harriet's Mama's EC blog a few days ago but haven't gotten around to blogging them yet...until now :)

So here is Ms Harriet modelling her dress, hat AND legwarmies all at once!

Photos of Finished Objects!

So if you are Harriet's Mama and don't want to spoil the surprise, don't look!!!

Over the last few weeks I have been knitting away madly to make a few things for Ms Harriet (unfortunately I dropped a stitch on the very rainbow thingy and couldn't save it...had to frog it and start it again...well, I will start it again when I stop being shitty at it!).

Harriet and her parents are doing Elimination Communication (and the related blog is a fascinating read!!), so I tried to make things that are EC friendly. Here are the finished objects.... there will be at least one more (the rainbow thingy), but have a bit of yarn left over from these things and keep contemplating what I could use it for LOL.

(btw I am linking these to my Ravelry projects so you can find the patterns from there if you are interested...if you aren't on Ravelry, well then, maybe you should be LOL)

Firstly some very cute Legwarmies. The pattern is made for 3mths - 2 years so I tried to make them a wee bit smaller so that they would fit Harri better now. Not the most colourful wool, but being Cleckheaton Cocoon it is very soft, and the colour can go with anything I reckon :)

Next up is a Sleepsack. Kind of a deceiving name because it is open at both ends, so more like a sleeptube! (Notice I manage to snap the pic only seconds before Indy stood on it, cheeky cheeky!) Ultra soft and warm, the ribbing is Paton's Jet, which is a blend of wool and alpaca and the body is The Knittery's Posmerino, a blend of merino and possum fur!

This next project was a little bit scary for me, LOL. It has *gasp* side seams! I have never done side seams before, but can now say I nailed and am no longer afraid! (Though I think I may have made the seam too thick on the inside iykwim) This is Blossom, a dress made in The Knittery's Merino and Cashmere, the colourway is called Bloody Mary.
I am going to take the ribbon off though, I don't like it, its shitty ribbon... I didn't realise it was shit until yesterday when I took it off the reel thingy to sew it on :( I think I will crochet a tie instead.

I have a fair bit of the Merino/Cashmere leftover from Blossom so yesterday I whipped up this hat, from a Cleckheaton Crochet book I bought a couple of weeks ago, pattern not in Ravelry sorry... A Lace hat it's supposed to be the 3mths size, but I think I made it a wee bit big...good thing babies grow and not shrink!!!

So I am sort of working on Rainbow thingy, LOL, and with still a fair bit of the merino/cashmere left I am thinking of what else I can make with it... and starting to think about making stuff for #3. Or maybe Indy... Or maybe Jet... Or maybe all 3 LOL.

My little artist :)

The blog is being a little neglected right now...sorry bout that...oops!

Thought I would make it look a little interesting by sharing some pics I took this morning of Jet's artwork. I have been a slack mummy when it comes to rescuing a keeping his artwork before he and Indy decide that ripping paper is fun, oops! So when I saw this mornings pictures, I jumped on them!

Here we have an E and an F

a Z and a 4

Lots of I's an A and I think an L

And my favourite, a person!

And here is a pic of the fingerless gloves I made for a fellow Woolaholic for the I Love Lace swap, I hope she likes them!!

I have also been busy knitting a few baby items, not for my bub, but for Harriet...I can't show pics of them yet cos I want them to be a surprise for her mumma ;)

Not much else is new around here...still battling the nausea, gah, I can't believe it... 23wks+(ish, LOL) and still feeling awful. No vibes to what the gender is yet, though I have been told by a few people that they think I am having a boy. Is that because I have 2 already??? I'd say they have a 50/50 chance of being right, hahaha.
Maybe there's one of each in there...

I think I have done a pretty cruddy job of joining the strips together but am hoping that the felting will hide that a little (fingers crossed LOL). Just have to finish the border, make the pieces and we're ready to felt, yippeeeeeeee!

an update on the WIPs...

In all the stuff that has happened over the last few weeks I kinda got sidetracked from knitting and crocheting which is really not good!! Its not very long till Christmas at all and at the rate I am going, NO presents will be finished!! EEEEEKKKKK!!!

In the stress of the work stuff I lost the love for things wooly :( I just couldn't get into it, I would sit it there in front of me with the intention of picking it up and....nothing. I would look at it and think...maybe later? Later would come and go, and no knitting or crocheting done, OOPS!!

I am getting back into the swing of it though, Woolaholics Swap done and sent (yay!) and now tonight I managed to get a bit more done of the Felted Checkers set.

Hopefully tomorrow I will remember to get the camera out and take some snaps!

I love this checkers set!!

I am making a felted checkers set for my brother for Christmas, I am loving them so far!!!!
They are working up so fast, I reckon if I was able to sit and do nothing but crochet all day, it would be done in a day!

So here is a progress shot:

I am loving them so much I am neglecting every other project!

Off to look for Christmas things for the Woolaholics Christmas Swap!

Casting on another project :)

Have been thinking about Christmas and decided I want to try and make as many pressies as possible, using as much stash in the process... I think handmade gifts are pretty special, I hope my family thinks so too!!
Knowing how long it will probably take me has prompted me to cast on one of the bigger projects I have on my list, Ms Marigold, for my little sister, definitely something I could see her wearing.

4 projects is a little...um...overwhelming, (I think? LOL) though, so I am pretty determined to finish one of them soon (preferably the bag) so I can start another project that will be heaps of fun, a Felted Checkers Set for my brother, lol!! I already told him I was making it, I couldn't help it, I had given a few clues because he seemed set on the idea that I was making him something crap, like a cushion(!!!) and he was stumped... I had to put him out of his misery, I was a bit worried that he wouldn't like it, he sat there for a while thinking about it and then told me he was thinking about where he could hang the board on the wall....like an art piece, how cool is that!!??!! So am heaps looking forward to doing that..ahh, knowing that it is being looked forward to and wanted :)

Quick Blanky Pic....

Zakai's blanky is going to look a little something like this:

Oh My Goodness.......

I got my Ravelry invite today Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

Wow... just wow.

Another place to waste lots of time atFree Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

As always Kelly is being a bad influence Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org Silly me often looks through her 'Desire' list....and now I look on R and gee, how did those patterns get into my queue??? Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org And then comes the searching for yarns, drooling over yarns, fantasising over said yarns.....

a quicky update for my neglected blog

LOL!

Ugh, so tired of late, Indy's sleep has just gone nuts... I think he has been listening to us talk about the possibility of #3 so is trying to act as contraception!

I have finally finished the longies for little Zakai....I cast on the night before he was born!! LOL, must have known something Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
But then in between Indy not sleeping, me being stuffed and trying to be a good support for my sis I only just finished them yesterday.... They should have only taken a few days, but the biggest set back was picking them up half asleep, making an error on the cuff, trying to fix it and wrecking it some more.....and then cracking it and frogging back to the start of the leg.
NEVER KNIT HALF ASLEEP!!!! It's dangerous!!

I have also finally picked up the Juliet again, it has been neglected for a few weeks as I piss farted around trying to decide on a shawl, or a blanket, or a something?? For my sister/Zakai and then at the last minute settled on longies so that I would have at least something to give her when he was born....well, that was the plan anyway!!
So last night I cast off the sleeves, yay! Now I just have to continue on in the garter for awhile because I'm doing the longer version Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

Finally settled on a blanket to do for little Zakai. Decided I didn't have the patience for a shawl, but that I need something I can sink my teeth into, something a bit of a challenge so....you may, or may not, remember this blanket that I did for my nephew Jack for his 1st birthday. Well, its going to be along the same lines as that....same kind of idea (ie, stash buster,Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org), colourful, nice pic, and his name..... Now just to find some time and brain capacity...
With any luck it will be done before Christmas!! Free smiley Face Courtesy of www.Freesmileys.org

Some finished objects...

Now that I know Tracy has received the package, I can post my pic of the small things swap I did for her.

A rainbow mobile featuring a sun, moon, cloud and star, a bib, and a little orange rattle toy. Timing was perfect, lol, I had just bought the cat a new collar so I nabbed the bell off her old one to use as the rattle in this.
Was heaps and heaps of fun to make, and I think Jamie and the boys wanted to keep it, lol. Hope it hangs straight Tracy, I didn't have anywhere decent to try it out!!!

While I am sharing pics....I shall post some pics of Charli and Zie's goodies, so no peeking Carla!!!
Charli's dress finished at long last...4 months in the making!! So should not have taken that long...but going around and around and around was very....meh and became tedious, if that is the right expression...
Silly me didn't even think to take a pic of the other side of the dress which has more tie dyeing on it...
And a cute little bunny for Zie... I had less cotton left than I had anticipated, though I didn't bunny would turn out this small, oops. Oh well. Bunny is still very cute :)
Hope the girls like their goodies, and I hope you like your goodies too Carla :)
Thanks so much for being there to help me through some mental and stressful moments, I am so lucky to have a friend like you :)

Sneaky peek :p

Cos I know you're watching Carla, LOL!!

Saturday, 8 September 2007

Almost done!!!! Yay!

For the most part, Charli's something (which ain't so secret anymore...whoops! Free smiley Face Courtesy of www.Freesmileys.org) is done...construction wise anyway. Just a few little finishing touches to be made and hopefully it will be on its way to its gorgeous little owner within the next week!! Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

Now I am onto Zie's something....completely different to what I had thought of originally (is this cryptic enough Carla?? LOL). But I'm really looking forward to it, nice to sink my teeth into something different Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
(And hopefully it will work up quickly and it can be on its way this week too!)

Frogging good day :p

As far as knitting lace is concerned, I give up!!!

But I have found something else for my small thing swap, which shall remain unmentioned, because I know that my swapee reads my blog ;) I will just say that it is colourful....and they will know that it was from me, LOL.

Colourful....don't have lots of colours in my stash unfortunately. So today I have been frogging the numerous unworn (and never to be worn) jumpers etc that Jet and Indy have been given by well meaning, but um..... how to put it.... colour blind?? Old fashioned perhaps?? Some kindly peoples anyway :) Anyhoo.... I have had lots of fun ripping them up and saving the wool for my 4th!!!! attempt at a small thing.
Nice to know the jumpers are being put to use at least....even if its not how it was intended...

I GOT SOCKS!!!!!!

On my way out to Spinners and Weavers this morning I spied a package in the mail box....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

SOCKS!!!!!!!!!

Some how I managed to drive the whole way to Mortlake, half an hour away, without needing to open it, not sure how, but boy did I rip it open when I got there!!!

Here are some snaps...

And just to top it off and make me feel extra extra spoilt, there was 2 stitchmarkers in with them!

I love them so much!! I put them on as soon as I got home, and haven't taken them off since, they are so cosy and warm!!
Perfect fit

And if it wasn't for a not so well concealed label, lol, I would never have guessed who it was.

Thankyou swapper!!!!

Spinners and Weavers went well too, I finally nailed holding the wool and knitting at the same time, lol, before that I had been dropping it after each stitch...was starting to feel more than tedious and just so so slow!!
And apparently I crochet funny! Well, there you go, lol, I guess that's what happens when you teach yourself from a book.... The woman who said that it was funny said that it looked like I was knitting...hmm...weird, LOL!!
So even though its weekly I'll only be going fortnightly when my MIL goes....she can only go fortnightly because she has Chemo fortnightly on Tuesdays so can't make it those days.
Looking forward to going back again...is very strange being able to just sit and concentrate and I reckon I got more done there in 4hrs than I would in 4 days at home!!!! No distractions and no little helping hands!!!

'Whats in your knitting bag?' Woolaholics Challenge

Until this morning my knitting bag has been pretty much empty so I hadn't done *The Challenge* yet. But.....
I am going to Spinners and Weavers with my MIL tomorrow, so thought I had get my WIPs together ready to go! Free smiley Face Courtesy of www.Freesmileys.org Am excited and nervous all at the same time about Spinners and Weavers...will be nice to have some regular time for me, that involves wool Free smiley Face Courtesy of www.Freesmileys.org , lol, and other wool-lovers. But.....at 25, I will be the youngest one there....by quite a few years....my MIL goes with her MIL.... Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

Anyhoo, onto *The Challenge*:

First photo is 'the bag' (made by Jacki of The Complete Fabrication Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org )
Second photo, contents of 'the bag'.
We have....
  • Zippered pouch that matches bag, in it is a tape measure, wool needles, pencil, pen and a pair of crappy scissors that comes in those cheapy sewing kits that you get at the supermarket.
  • Thomas the Tank Engine pencil tin (from when I was in VCE, hehe), in it is scissors, stitchmarkers, more wool needles and a pencil sharpener.
  • A Care Bears pencil box (from a Happy Meal, lol) holds all my crochet hooks and a little ruler.
  • Plastic split ring stitchmarkers in a zip lock bag....in a zip lock bag because Jet put a hole in the first one.... to mark stitches when crocheting.
  • Stitchmarkers that I made last week with my MIL in the zip lock bag at the front.
  • Orange acrylic that is becoming a 20cmx20cm square to go towards a blanket for a woman having Chemo treatment.
  • Red thing is my small thing swap Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
  • And another smaller bag which holds crochet WIP 'Something for Charli' in Bendigo 8ply Cotton Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
  • ooh, and I nearly forgot...a row counter I found rolling around (forgot I even had one, lol) and a button...
Third (and not very good) photo is a close up of the stitchmarkers that I made...just to show off Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
